[Testimonial from a past Member]

I have had a wonderful 18 years as a member of the choir - it has been a real joy to sing such a wide repertoire with you - thank you for that and thank you to all my fellow choir members who have been so kind and supportive in recent years. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Some Audience Comments on our Performances

Haydn's Creation/Mozart's Mass in C Minor, May 2010

Congratulations, Richard, on another splendid concert. The Mozart was superb and Katherine Fuge absolutely sublime. I do hope that she will sing with the choir again in the future.

Beethoven's 9th Symphony,  January 2009

I have heard so far five very strongly positive comments on the performance, including two from German colleagues who were astounded at the quality of performance, and asked whether this was usual for small English towns.    D.W.

Congratulations on last night's concert. We (3 of us) all enjoyed it hugely, aided by the terrific programme notes.  It was certainly the right music to give us a lift and seemed to have just the right venue.    L.L.

People I saw afterwards were all very enthusiastic about the concert    S.P.

Vaughan Williams Jan 2010

Just wanted to let you know how much my husband and I enjoyed the Vaughan Williams concert on Saturday, especially the Sea Symphony.  It was beautifully performed by the choir and orchestra - they did full justice to this wonderful music.  I sang with Durham Choral Society (alto) for several years when I worked in Durham, but since changing my job I now sing with Cleveland Philharmonic Choir. We are going to be singing the Sea Symphony in July as part of the Tall Ships celebration in Hartlepool, and if we can match your performance last Saturday, I will be very pleased!  Please pass on my congratulations to the choir for such a lovely concert    J.W.

(From an audience member who is very fussy about his music): brilliant!    I.B.

Under your direction both choir and orchestra, not forgetting the soloists, made this concert a really special and very moving occasion. I think the whole audience must have felt it, judging by the almost stunned few minutes silence, when you could have heard a pin drop, after the exquisite pianissimo fading out of the music.    G.S.

I don't know about you but the Sea Symphony is still swimming around in my mind!  As we have come to expect the cathedral takes over music and sends it into a higher sphere of awe and appreciation and last week was no exception.    R.B. (Musical Director)
